Dermatologists recommend reapplying your sunscreen every two hours to stay protected from the sun all day long. That’s no problem when you’re bare-faced. But on the days that you’re not, how are you supposed to reapply sunscreen without completely ruining your makeup?

Powder sunscreen is your best bet. Also known as “dry sunscreen,” it looks and feels just like a loose setting powder or powder foundation. But it’s actually a type of mineral sunscreen, and contains the same mineral-based active ingredients (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) to guard against harmful UV rays.

All you need to do is brush it on to create an invisible layer of protection. It’s dry and sheer, so it won’t look or feel greasy or create an obvious white cast. Most importantly, it won’t disturb your makeup, and you can reapply it as many times as you want.

The only catch? Powder sunscreen doesn’t give you as much coverage as a lotion, so it should only be used as a second layer of sun protection.
