Angelina Jolie Just Rocked Blonde, Curly Hair on the Red Carpet—Her Most Unexpected Look Yet
For years, Angelina Jolie’s sleek brunette hair has been as iconic as her full lips and almond-shaped eyes. Whether she wore soft waves or elegant updos, her polished hairstyles were a hallmark of her classic, sultry look.
That’s what makes her most recent red carpet appearance all the more unexpected. For the premiere of her latest film, Maria, during the 2024 AFI Film Festival, Angelina stepped out with big, blonde, curly hair.

This was in 2021, and I think we can all agree that the colour and style were perfect. The medium brunette couldn’t be more flattering with her skin tone, and she styled it in her signature soft, loose waves.
But she doesn’t have this colour anymore. In case you missed it, Angelina debuted a new blonde shade a few months ago, at the Venice Film Festival:

While I love the simple, straight, side-parted hairstyle, this colour isn’t as great with her skin tone, if I’m being honest. (Of course, being Angelina, she still looks amazing.) My hunch is that just like Nicole Kidman, she decided to go lighter because of greying hair. The blonde is a lot easier to maintain.
Anyway, now she’s traded in that look for a warmer shade of blonde and a completely different texture....

I did NOT have blonde, curly-haired Angelina on my 2024 bingo card. I mean... look at that wild texture! And all the volume! I also think this warmer, darker shade of blonde brings the life back into her skin.
I’m actually wondering if she’s a naturally curly girl, it looks so convincing. Maybe she’s been straightening her hair for the past few decades!
Celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora was the man behind her new style, but so far, we don’t know exactly what he did to pull this off. What we do know is that he essentially did the same thing on her for CR Fashion Book in September:
I guess she liked it so much, they decided to do it again for this premiere!
As for the rest of her look, it’s all about that red lip:

Since she was recently announced as the face of Tom Ford’s Runway Lip Color, I think that has to be what she’s wearing here. To me, it looks like it could be the shade Scarlet Rouge, which is what she’s wearing in the ad campaign.

Personally, I love this transformation, and plenty of Angelina fans are on board, too.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen her with her hair this curly and I’m obsessed with it, she’s stunning,” said one Reddit user. “I’ve always hoped Angelina Jolie would wear her hair wild and curly, she has a really strong face and bone structure to pull it off. It softens her features so much,” said another fan on X.
But not everyone agrees: “I adore her but this is potentially her worst ever hair look. How did this happen?” Another fan thought it was just ‘too much.’ “Like... it’s actually not fair. Blonde Angelina is a cheat code. Blonde curly Angelina... nope, it’s too much, too everything.”
